Being busy

Being busy the last couple of weeks
with doing nothing...
Well nothing is a big word,
but I had no energy to put into blogging :(
I hope I get more energy for this sort of things,
the winter is not my best season... I should be hibernating...

So I had a big swap I got a few lovely things,
a cowl, a teapot cosy with matching coaster,
and tea lights holders :) The are very pretty all together.
I made a boy's hat for my swap-partner and a big pink shawl.

And I'm designing a few cowls for the shop to.
Here is a sneak peek...

And with my new telephone I can make some awesome
retro pictures :) I made a picture with me and my youngest son.

Sunday morning

A while ago I promised my oldest son (3,5 years)
to bake "little cakes" as he calls them.
And he wanted to make mushrooms,
so I baked the cupcakes and he was to decorate them all by himself,
because he is a big boy now...
Which was a lot of fun to do, but very messy as you can see...
But they tasted delicious ;)

This Sunday morning my son saw the box with
the ingredients for cupcakes and wanted to make some.
Normally we go to church on a Sunday morning,
but my youngest son has bronchitis
and my husband is getting sick too...
So we stayed at home and I told him that it was okay,
we could make some little cakes again.
To cheer my husband and little one up.
And this is the result, my first batch of real cupcakes...
And these tasted very delicious also :)

Have a good Sunday :)

Etsy Verkoop

Afgekeurd patroon voor muts
Sommige dingen moet je gewoon even vertellen,

DIY, free pattern: circular scarf / cowl

Slipping on a scarf for fall or winter has gotten a whole lot easier.
A cowl or circular scarf takes away takes away the hassle
of trying to tie a regular scarf,
and it’s easy because you don’t have to
worry about scarves coming undone all the time.

This circular scarf / cowl is made from real dutch wool,
spun in thick and thin parts,
to give it it's lovely whimsical authentic look.
And it keeps you warm on even a harsh cold day.
Or it can compliment your outfit because it has such a lovely colors to it.
Handmade from super-wash wool blend with acrylic in it.
Color blends: blue, red, purple, yellow.
Total length 140 cm / 55 inch.
Total width 20 cm / 8 inch.

If you cannot knit or find the time to do so,
I sell them in my shop :), you can also mail me if you want
other yarn, color etc, I love making custom orders :)

You need to have basic knowledge of knitting in the round.
You need to know how to cast on, cast off, knit and purl.
All this information you can find on youtube or other sites.

You need about 150 gram yarn needle size Europe 7-8 mm.
I made this scarf on a circular needle 7 mm, 80 cm cable.

Cast on 140 stitches,
then join the round and place marker
(I love the markers, it is not necessary,
but I like to be all rounds even)
Make the whole scarf  in rib round: * k2, p2 *
*knit two,  purl two*
till it is 20 cm or 8 inch tall, cast off loosely.
Break yarn and weave in end.
You can also * k1, p1 * that is just a matter of taste :)

And that's it. My first pattern on the world wide web :)

Stamps for the shop

Last week I received no less than 3 stamps.
All for the shop to make goodies bags,
to make labels for my handspun yarn,
and one address stamp for the envelops.

I got those 2 stamps from Studio Stempel in the Netherlands.
Ellen makes the most wonderful stamps so professional
and good looking, and fast too! I ordered the stamps on Monday
and the next Saturday I received them in the mail  :)
She gave me some good advice too, about sizes and such.

Have a lovely day!

Colours Fall / Winter 2011 - 2012

Because of personal circumstances
I'm late this year with the fall and winter collection.
If you already can speak of a collection of course.
Normally I start in the summer working on accessories
for the autumn and winter, but this summer I was really busy
with the care for my oldest boy. Making appointments and
getting him in a new daycare. Anyway my head was filled
with other stuff than colours and accessories,
and then it is hard to make or even think about new designs and so.
But this week I'm making a nice start with it and trying
to fill the shop with lovely fall and winter things.

Crochet bracelets

This week I was making some bracelets from a pattern on Haakzaken.
That's a very lovely blog about crochet it's written in Dutch,
but do not let it stop you to take a look.
I made those bracelets with 100% cotton and wooden beads.

I'm thinking about doing more crocheted beaded bracelets,
but I want to make my own design or pattern,
It's just so inspiring to see how you can add something
so nice as beads to your design.
I made crocheted beaded necklaces before,
that was with nylon wire and leather cords,
the structure is very different from cotton.
I can't show you pictures of that, they got lost on my old PC :(

Next week I'm gonna try to make some brooch
I got inspired by the nice pictures on her (haakzaken) blog :)

Mushrooms Autumn 2011

Today we went for a long walk in the forrest,
the weather was gorgeous and the scenery too.
My oldest son and me where "finding" mushrooms
to make pictures of them, for 2 hours we looked
and searched and even thou he is just 3 years old
he liked every bit of the 2 hours, that made me so proud!
My husband and youngest son climbed trees and branches
and chasing the dog, it was all so nice, it felt like there where
the only people on the planet, until we saw other people
walking there dogs or enjoying a nice trip in the woods ;)
Here is a little collage of what we encountered today.

Some of the mushrooms we saw.

A bit of the scenery of the woods.

Have a lovely day!

Key chain / bag accessories

After I made my craft room / hobby room,
I needed to do something in it...
Even thou it was a little thing,
to make the room well used,
I guess that's the best word for it ;)
And this is the result, crocheted key chains
or bag accessories or where a hanger can be used for.
Have a nice day!

Craftroom

Last week I created my new craftroom...
I made a few quick photo's but still
everything needs to be put in place more.
I need to organize and sort things out,
which is not my strongest quality ;)

It already inspires me to sit and relax more,
and make nice things for the shop,
because everything is within hand reach.
The nice colours of bright blue and lime
gives me a happy feeling and when all my stuff is
in transparent storage the colours from the materials
are an inspiration by it self (or at least I hope so)

And I manged to put almost everything in it,
and even my husband has his own little space
in it to make his military model constructions.
Without having to worry the kids trow it on the floor.

Hope you have a crafty and inspiring day!

What´s on the needles #3

This week on the needles,
well crochet hooks to be precise...

I'm making a scarf for a special lady,
who helped me the last year, with coaching and teaching me
how to plan my day's and weeks.
She went above and beyond to make my life livable again.
Now I'm pretty scared... Because I need to do
it all by myself again... But she give me enough
to do it on my own, even thou it's just her job...
And if I fail, (I hope not, but I'm gonna miss her a lot)
she comes back and helping me again,
and that's the best reinsurance she could give me.
She was like a beacon in a stormy ocean,
she was a listing ear when I needed one, and not jugging me at all.
So a little present for her is in it's place...
The scarf is with a lovely brown cotton and bamboo mix
and the pink stripes with 100% cotton. It feel so soft...

I don't have a pattern from it,
I just crochet the ends with double crochet
and the middle with granny stripes...
And I'm planning to make it nice with some fringe at the ends :)

Have a good creative day!

TWIS / DWZI #22

This week I saw...
The rainbow crochet swap or
Regenboog haak swap...

The African flowers blanket I made for Ebi
from Ebi's colorful word.
I made it with love and had so much fun crochet it
and it turned out so well done that I wanted to keep it myself...
Just kidding... but I hope that she likes it too.

The bag in the middle I got from Esther
from Esthers101. Thank you so much Esther
for this lovely bag, I will wear / use it with love!
