What a day...

This morning like every morning, my son Daniël starts to call me; Mama MAMA, I want out! Okay I’ll sigh, just a minute and I’ll be there. My husband is sick but is on his way to work. And the kids noses are water walking. Sigh…
Then in the afternoon when the kids take a nap it’s Mommy time, YES! Scrapping… But no, telephone is ringing, my husband on my cell, still sick but hanging on at his work. Home phone is ringing, ringing and ringing again… adds, adds and adds again….  A yell from upstairs, the kids are awake again. Daniël needs his lunch and Lucas well his lunch too, but lucky for me thats still a bottle and some and mashed fruit.
Need to keep the house clean, vacuum, dusting… Was-machine broke down… Need to wait till Wednesday then the store is gonna deliver a new one…  A nicely big was-machine, made for a household with kids, that was the good part.
Marco just came home, tiered but satisfied from his work. We ate diner, played with the kids and there off to bed… Yes, Mommy time! Scrapping…

Dark days before Christmas

Dark days before Christmas, what to do when the days are getting shorter and you are thinking about what kind of presents your getting for your kids and family?
I discovered  knitting! It sounds old fashion but it’s definitely not. Look at some pictures here.

The first I started off to gather some information about knitting itself, how to do it, what kind of materials to use, ask my mother for help ;) . I looked on youtube about some films of how to knit the basics, and I find some.
Started to go to the shop bought for € 5,00 knitting needles and wool, then I crawled behind the computer with my youtube film on and started to try to knit. And it worked… I made 2 scarfs. I found some nice sites for Eco Wool from Alpaca’s, there Lama sorts of animals they give nice wool that is not itchy, I just so hate wool that is itchy:(  My true love wool from Alpaca and it’s animal friendly and cheap!
Now I’m making a scarf for my husband total cost of €3,00 a nice brown color matching his winter jacket, from yarn that is suitable in the washing machine, how convenient. Now I have to learn how to knit by patterns, than I can make actually some knitted sweaters for my husband and kits even for myself. And have a nice handmade modern, personal and cheap present with my own personal touch.
I’ll keep you updated how the knitting is working out for me, so far it is relaxing to do, the thing with knitting is you can knit for a few minuets till hours, put it away and pick it up when ever you like. I just know a few knitting stitches. But even with a basic stitch you can make so many things, like caps and accessory for your lifestyle fashion and clothes. Like this scarf thats knitted is a strait stitch (the basic stitch) With thick wool and a big knitting needle like 10mm.

Kiss and make it better mommy…

My oldest son is Daniël, a most wonderful kid that is sweet and like to play outside in the garden. But he is also a bit of a daredevil. And as a mom I often give a kiss to make it better because he falls down or jumps on a wrong landing spot.
Last time that Daniel fell down the slide, he was so busy playing that he had no time had come to me for a kiss on the knee, so he grabbed his leg and try to give himself a kiss, and he said, it’s over now …
My work is done! Our tough, funny young man (2 years) no longer needs his mother for a kiss. We will see when he needs me again, but I feel that we didn’t got rid of him … and I can get back to work to be a proper mommy who kiss and makes better.

Scrapbook pages with some freebies

Still try to work out where to get the best freebies. I found 3 sites, there are some nice freebies. There are some Dutch websites too, but it’s easy to see where the freebies are.
I’m still working on my first digital scrapbook almost finished it.
And I’m doing some nice pages just to print and hang in the living room. I’ll post a few pictures later on today.
It’s so nice to work with something you really like, and see the results right away, without getting the stress of cleaning afterwards ;)

Digital scrapbooking

Here I go, I just found myself a new hobby. Is that important enough to write a blog about? I think so, because of my AD/HD I find It hard to manage a hobby for quite a while. I Tried drawing I did that for about 2-3 years then I was fed up because it would take a while to finish a drawing. Paining I love so much but I don’t have the patience to complete a painting, still its good to do with drawing so I still have the stuff laying around my home, sitting there waiting for me to pick it up again. I am creative so I thought lets make statues of soapstone really love that artwork as well, but still no patience to complete more than a few, also have all the materials laying around my attic because we are to make a hobby room there for all the stuff.  But there is one thing I can do for hours and hours and thats sitting behind my computer, and doing stuff.  Like surfing the net for cheap stuff for my boys to decorate their rooms, finding nice blogs to read, play some games and so on. Then I was thinking to myself why don’t I reorganize all my pictures, when I did that It seems such a waist to just leave them there. I have more than 3000 pic’s of my children and family, hobby’s and nature.  A few people I know made some digital photo albums with them but personally I find them boring to see, some photo’s, maybe a background and some text and thats it, but nice to see them off the PC and in a book. Then I found the idea to make a digi scrapbook, I love to see the “real paper” scrapbooks, my mother makes some awesome ones, they are really beautiful and it’s a lot of work and love there goes in. But the results are gorgeous. But I’m no good with scissors and paper so why not combine digital photo’s with digital scrap booking? And I just made my first album.

Here are is a little preview.

This is the front of the book.

A view of our family.

A page in the middle.

Me pregnant of our 2th son, and 2 days after he was born.

Another page in the middle.

My oldest son when he was about a half year old.

Almost at the end.

The brothers and my mother.

But for now that’s my first digital scrapbook.
Books are expensive in Holland I don’t know what about the other country’s. So only the real good stuff I buy in a book form, and the rest I can print or just post them wherever I want. I have a few photo editing programs on my computer they are similar to Adobe Photoshop, but these are free to download. One of my favorites is Inkscape, you can layer your photo’s or files and place them in the order you want, and thats the same as you do on paper scrapbooking, the main difference is that I don’t have my whole floor covert with tiny snippets and pieces of photo’s  etc. What my vacuum thinks is lovely, and me too!

Dress to impress

Brainstorming

Yesterday I was thinking about setting up a blog, because sometimes my head is filled with ideas to write on paper. But paper is not ‘hot’ anymore these days. Instead I was thinking to write on the computer as well. And with a pen and pencil, my thoughts are called a dairy, and I like to keep that for myself ;)
But then how would you call your blog, do you use a name with says something about what you write, or you choose a name that says something about your personality? I came up with  Esther’s Delicacy because it’s a taste of someones life and interests.  Really don’t know else how to call it, but maybe overtime I will change it. This brainstorming of me was getting me on a lot of site’s that has some sort of ideas how to choose a name, how to get the best post and how to post;)

I thought this was so very handy that I will make a list of it, so if you want to get some tools and tips here they come;

If it must describe your blog; it is probable that lots of people will see a link to your blog before having the chance to actually read it (in search engines, for instance). Guess what, if just by looking at the name they can figure what the blog is about they will be more likely to visit it.

It must be easy to remember: suppose your blog talks about cycling, fitness and health advice in general. Naming it “The Cycling, Fitness and General Health Advice Blog” would offer quite an exhaustive description of the blog, but would it also be easy to remember? Stick with simple names.

Make your opinion known; People like blogs, they like blogs because they are written by people and not corporations. People want to know what people think, crazy as it sounds they want to know what you think. Tell them exactly what you think using the least amount of words possible.

Link like crazy; Support your post with links to other web pages that are contextual to your post.

Make Headlines snappy; Contain your whole argument in your headline. Check out National newspapers to see how they do it.

Make your posts easy to scan; Every few paragraphs insert a sub heading. Make sentences and headlines short and to the point.

Litter the post with Keywords. Think about what keywords people would use to search for your post and include them in the body text and headers. make sure the keyword placement is natural and does not seem out of place.

Edit your post Good writing is in the editing. Before you hit the submit button, re-read your post and cut out the stuff that you don’t need.

Happy blogging :)
