Making more handgesponnen wolletjes

in mijn Etsy Shop wilt zien, laat het me weten!

Have a nice colorful day!

Swappers bijeenkomst

1 paar hand / pols warmers.
me voor niks heel erg zenuwachtig gemaakt ;)

Have a nice day!

Handspun Yarn

A few days ago I made some new
handspun yarn for the shop.
All the yarns are made from 100% Merino Wool,
and weight 100 grams.

I love the colour range in all the yarns,
I think there pretty for making
some nice accessories :)

All the handspun yarn are made from soft wool.
It's a mixture of colours.
The colours change as the plying is done 2 or 3 colours.
There are some thicker and thinner parts in it,
to give it its lovely whimsical and authentic handspun look.

Spinning in the sun

I made a little video from my spinning wheel.
And this is how it looks spinning on it :)
The spinning wheel is an old one and its a bit wobbly,
the sound it makes is a bit loud,
but hey my children fall asleep at the sound of it ;)
Spinning in the sun with my kids in the background playing with water.
Material for spinning is a beautiful seacell fiber mixed with blue faced Leicester,
I dyed the wool myself on the handwerkbeurs in Zwolle (handcraft fair)
see this link.
And the wool and seacell together I'm gonna ply it with pink silk ♡ ♡ ♡

Yarn Please

Good afternoon.
It's been a while that I made a "normal" post on this blog.
And thats because there are 3 things that keeps me occupied.

One: the test results for my oldest son came along.
It turned out he has difficult learning level in this moment.
And he needs to go to a medical daycare.
That was expected, but still the test results scared me,
because I never expected that he was that far behind,
in compare to other children of his age.

Two: I had some nice inspiration for the shop,
but I struggled with the execution of it.
But nevertheless I'm gonna keep on going
until it turns out the way I want it.

Three: I love my spinning wheel!
It's so relaxing to make yarn from
(in my case) Merino wool.
I made a few skeins and it turned out lovely.
There are some thinner parts in the skeins
and some puffiness to make it whimsical.
I think it's very lovely yarn to make accessories from.

100% Merino wool purple colour range (100 gram, already sold)
100 % Merino wool 75 gram, purple / pink colour range.
100% Merino wool this will be ocean colour.
100% Merino wool this will be the other half of the ocean colour.

Spindle spinning

I got my first meters on the spindle spun, and that went pretty well.
It is a bit on the thick side, but I got the hang of it now.

There are thinner and thicker parts in the yarn, but it does have a nice flow.
I'm now knitting a hat on needle 5,5 mm.
It's a bit over 90 meters and after twisting it is 41,5 meters of yarn,
it's natural wool yarn, I think of a Scottish sheep.
I even bought an old spinning wheel today, tomorrow I can pick it up.

I'm very existed how it feels to spin on a spinning wheel.
It seems so
satisfactory with my own spun yarn to make something beautiful.
Then you cover the whole progress, except shaving the sheep ;)

My new Spindle.

The carded wool.
Spun yarn, need to be twisted.
Voilà the hand spun yarn.

Handcraft Fair

Handwerk beurs.

Handcraft Fair.
Yesterday my best friend and I went to the handcraft fair. Unfortunately during the workshops and the fair we forgot to take pictures, we totally went up in the amount of stands, fun and workshops and everything that we saw. Back at home I took a few pictures where you can see what we've done.

At the Hoooked stand, there was a very helpful woman that showed me how to Tunisian Crochet. The yarn they make is made of fabric they use in the clothes industry it's a waste product so they recycle the fabric to make yarn of it, you can look at Hoooked.com But what Geesje (the woman in the stand) did looked so appealing to me that I bought the yarn and the needles, a normal crochet needle and a Tunisian crochet needle. I tried it at home Sunday evening and this is how it turned out, it is still not beautiful and straight, but the basic I know now.

I did a workshop wool dyeing with dye from Australia, it's nature, non toxic dye, which i love very much, they had some colors but you needed to make your own color range with a few basic colors, I made a color range in the purple and pink style. This is the result, and for a beginner (this was the first time I did this) it turned out to be lovely. My son Daniël helped me at home to wash the wool a few times and dry it, because at the workshop there was no time for it. Now I only need to spindle spinning it. Hope for a good result also.

And for my birthday as a present I got a workshop spindle spinning from my best friend Linda, and together we had a lot of fun doing it. With carded wool we actually made yarn. We made with a homemade spindle spun (made from 2 cd's a lamp holder and a wooden) yarn and twisted the yarn. And we got some wool also to take home to practice. Thanks Linda for this wonderful gift, I loved to do this with you!
