Brainstorming

Yesterday I was thinking about setting up a blog, because sometimes my head is filled with ideas to write on paper. But paper is not ‘hot’ anymore these days. Instead I was thinking to write on the computer as well. And with a pen and pencil, my thoughts are called a dairy, and I like to keep that for myself ;)
But then how would you call your blog, do you use a name with says something about what you write, or you choose a name that says something about your personality? I came up with  Esther’s Delicacy because it’s a taste of someones life and interests.  Really don’t know else how to call it, but maybe overtime I will change it. This brainstorming of me was getting me on a lot of site’s that has some sort of ideas how to choose a name, how to get the best post and how to post;)

I thought this was so very handy that I will make a list of it, so if you want to get some tools and tips here they come;

If it must describe your blog; it is probable that lots of people will see a link to your blog before having the chance to actually read it (in search engines, for instance). Guess what, if just by looking at the name they can figure what the blog is about they will be more likely to visit it.

It must be easy to remember: suppose your blog talks about cycling, fitness and health advice in general. Naming it “The Cycling, Fitness and General Health Advice Blog” would offer quite an exhaustive description of the blog, but would it also be easy to remember? Stick with simple names.

Make your opinion known; People like blogs, they like blogs because they are written by people and not corporations. People want to know what people think, crazy as it sounds they want to know what you think. Tell them exactly what you think using the least amount of words possible.

Link like crazy; Support your post with links to other web pages that are contextual to your post.

Make Headlines snappy; Contain your whole argument in your headline. Check out National newspapers to see how they do it.

Make your posts easy to scan; Every few paragraphs insert a sub heading. Make sentences and headlines short and to the point.

Litter the post with Keywords. Think about what keywords people would use to search for your post and include them in the body text and headers. make sure the keyword placement is natural and does not seem out of place.

Edit your post Good writing is in the editing. Before you hit the submit button, re-read your post and cut out the stuff that you don’t need.

Happy blogging :)
