New toy

What do you do when you get a new mini laptop?
You gonna crochet a laptop bag/cosy.
I just received the laptop yesterday morning,
and I made a laptop bag/cosy for it yesterday evening.
And I just learned how to crochet last saturday.
But it's a bit cheating, I made it with Zpagetti from Hoooked.
It's big you see result very soon,
that's what make this so nice to do.
I just have to figure out what to do with the flap,
maybe a button or Velcro tape.

Laptop bag/cosy dark gray / light pink

And a cosy for my hubbies e-reader made the other night

Made from 100% pure wool from Drops needle 7 mm

Monday Inspiration

Good morning to all of you!
I want to welcome all the new followers,
nice to have you here!

This Monday there is another book
I want to show you.
It gets me inspired every time I'll take a look in it,
I hope it does for you too...

The year round with Sarah Kay

It reminds me of Holly Hobbie.
I actually have a doll from Holly Hobbie, I got it when I was 1 year,
and after 30 years of cuddling she has no hair anymore, and looks a bit crooked

After 30 years of cuddling

I took her in every bed I ever slept in...
Not that I can not sleep without a doll,
I'm a bit old for that anyway,
but it is just sentiment...
My doll just sits at the pillow my head is on.

This is the original (from internet)

So today I wanted to share some pictures from Sarah Kay's book.

The book is in Dutch...
Sarah Kay is from Australia,
so I guess the original book is in English.
I love the do it yourself things in the book
and I also love the drawing so much,
they are so cute!
There are subjects about gardening,
cooking and do it yourself projects.

I hope you find it just as inspiring as I do.

Have a lovely day,

Learing how to Crochet

Saturday there was a knit and crochet fair in Nieuwegein,
it was 23 degrees and very nice weather.
I ate my lunch outside in the sun, and it was lovely.
There where also some twitter buddies
and it was so nice to meet them in real life...
Also nice to see and feel all the new yarns and knitting needles,
see whats new and learn from other people how they do something,
like the magic loop with a circular knitting needle.

Magic loop

I went there to learn how to crochet I had a workshop at 15.00
so I had plenty of time to walk around talk to people
and see all the interesting things,
but I was surprised when I looked at my watch to see it was already 14.30...
Really time flies when you having fun...

The workshop was called beyond de pannelap,
what means beyond the potholder.
When my mother was young she learned
how to crochet and knit in school.
The first ting you learned was to crochet a potholder,
with all the different stitches.
So the name of the workshop was to give an idea to
do more with crochet then only a few straight stitches.

We actually made a flower...

The woman who gave the workshop never had a group of people
who never even hold a crochet needle, so there was not so much time
to learn a lot, because she needed to instruct everybody.

The flower is done!

But it was a nice experience and I actually learned how to crochet properly.
We where all able to choose the color of the yarn...
And I did pick the one and only pink yarn!
What I did wrong when I tried to learn myself was the fact that
I hold my needle wrong.
So I'm happy that I learned what I did wrong,
that I can continue to venture this lovely handcraft.
This is how it looked like.

Me trying to hold my needle the right way...

A Revelry friend never did this before, she did it so good!

This is what I made this morning with my new skills

I hope you have a nice day!

Pray for Japan send to Tokyo

On the website from Omstebeurt was an initiative about the exposition "Pray for Japan",
48 beautifully made art work where send this week to Tokyo,
also I participate in it, and I'm happy with the result.
If you follow this link you can see the art work for yourself, and are they not very nice and lovely?
I really hope the exposition raises a lot of money to help the people in Japan, so they can work on a good and bright future. This link is to show you what I've made, it's so nice to see how much effort people put in this project to help other people, that's why I made a digital stamp / drawing with the words... "Not what we get , but what we give is the most valuable in life"
