Afgekeurd patroon voor muts

Sommige dingen moet je gewoon even vertellen,

en omdat het in mijn hoofd overloopt van dingen 

dan maar even in het Nederlands.

Ik ben heel druk bezig geweest met mijn

Etsy winkeltje. Veel van de dingen die ik heb gemaakt 

zijn "afgekeurd" maar er zijn ook een paar leuke dingen 

bijgekomen. Wat ik met de afgekeurde dingen doe

weet ik nog niet, waarschijnlijk aanpassen en dan 

opnieuw maken en alsnog in de shop zetten.

Wat ik ook eigenlijk niet onvermeld wil laten is dat ik in 

September maar liefst 2 dingen heb verkocht,

wel te verstaan de eerste 2 dingen :)

Dan mag je toch een beetje trots zijn op jezelf :)

Afgekeurde armband

Op dit moment ben ik bezig met sjaals en mutsen kant en klaar,

naar eigen patroon, of zo afgeleid dat het eigenlijk niet meer te herleiden is. Heerlijk warm voor de winter en in het vroege voorjaar!

En ik zit boordevol ideeën voor accessoires die nog uitgewerkt moeten worden.  

En ook ben ik gevraagd om op een kerstmarkt hier in Arnhem te staan. 

Ik vond het daarom ook best even slikken, maar moest toch nee zeggen. 

Volgend jaar! Over een jaar heb ik (hopelijk) meer ervaring met verkoop en het maken van patronen.

Maar ook een jaar om spullen te maken, want ik vind het zelf nogal aan de karige kant...

And that means I become more confident

Knitting in progress Deer Hat

This lovely knitted deer hat in progress is for a blogfriend Liefgeval
I had a little bit of trouble with the yarn and the pattern
to calculate the size, the pattern is for bigger needles than I had yarn for...
And the top of the hat looks a bit different, but when it sits on
your head it looks better than the picture...

The ears are trouble...
I don't have the correct size needles without head,
as you can see in the picture I did a sample with
the loose ends of my circular needle set in 2 different sizes (ohoh)
So next week I need to buy a pair of gloves needles in the right size ;)
And I hope (really hope) by the end of this month that the hat will be finished.

But I do love this challenge so much, I never did something like this before,
so I only get better from it... right... even if it would take a wile.
My blogfriend reassured me that she had enough patience to wait...
Well I hope I don't disappoint her,
and the hat will be done at the end of this month
or maybe in May or .... Just kidding :)

Knitting project Pink Shawl

Remember this picture?

I wanted to make a nice spring colored shawl.

When I found a nice pattern and yarn I ordered it from a shop.

I was so surprised about this yarn, it was so big...
The knitting project Pink Shawl is finished now and it turned out lovely. 

Al thou I don't yet know if I put some fringe on it like in the pattern. 

But the skein of yarn is so big that I can make more than one out of it.
Two I know for sure, I'm not certain that I can make a 3th one if I put the fringe on the shawl.
But what do I do with 2 of those lovely spring shawls?
I was thinking about a give-away. 
I saw a lot of give-aways on several blogs and I really like the idea of giving this lovely pink shawl to someone and make one happy.

Yes... I'm gonna do it... the first Give-Away on Esther's Creative Life...

I will make a post later on with the details of the give-away.
I hope you're just as enthusiastic about this give-away as I am.

Polaroid

What a nice Sunday, it is still a bit chilly but the sun is shining :)
Sunshine makes me happy! I hope spring is really here now, I'm longing for some sunshine after the winter months.

Anyways I found a nice site that turnes your photo's into polaroids. And I thought this looks so nice I want to share that with you. It is a little program that once it unzipped, and installed you get a Polaroid camera on your desktop. If you drag and drop a photo on the camera on your desktop it will turn into a Polaroid photo, what really cool is that you have to wait a few min until it's "dry". By the way, this is also my new knitting project, I wanted to make a nice spring scarf, in 2 different colors, one pink as shown on the picture and one light brown faded into light baby pink.
I ordered 2 skeins of yarn from garnstudio.com and the colors are really lovely but when I saw the size of the skeins I was surprised that they where so big! Ordering from a online shop you can expect sometimes surprises, normally I know that the colors may be different because of the settings on your screen or by the sort of camera is used to take a picture. But I had in my mind a normal size skein and it turned out 88 cm around measured, that is bigger then the size of my sons when they where born!

The 1th picture is my sister (who was also my nurse when my first son was born) with my first born son, Daniël, on this picture he is 3 days old. The 2nd picture is my husband with our other son, Lucas, he is also 3 days old on the photo.

Monday Inspiration Volume II

Deze week was een beetje hectisch vol verjaardagen en onze jongste zoon werd donderdag 1 jaar, dat moesten we vieren ook natuurlijk. Daardoor kreeg ik niet de kans om een ​​leuke post te maken deze week. Maar in de spirit van Monday Inspiration wil ik het een Essie traditie maken om elke maandag een post te plaatsen vol inspiratie  waar je een hele week op kunt teren ;)

Deze week ben ik er ook achter gekomen dat ik Retro of Vintage wel erg leuk vind, zeker niet alles, oranje lampen vind ik nog steeds erg lelijk, maar de meeste dingen zijn toch wel erg in smaak, en ik heb begrepen dat ik echt niet de enige ben, maar misschien wel de enige die oranje lampen een bezoeking vind ;) 

Een tijdje geleden kocht ik van Marktplaats een boeken collectie die Het Komplete Handwerken, deel 1, 2 en 3, heet, geschreven in 1975, ik denk dat het de eerste druk is, omdat er niet wordt gesproken van meerdere uitgave. In de boeken staan bijna alle soorten handwerk ook hoe je het kan leren en met een stap voor stap uitleg erbij. De boeken hebben ook mooie foto's van voorbeelden. En een paar van die foto's ga ik je laten zien. Alle foto's die ik heb gemaakt en in deze post zet, komen dan die boeken, en ik gebruik ze alleen om me te inspireren of hoe ik een bepaalde handwerk kan leren.

This week was a bit hectic full of birthdays and our youngest son turned 1 year Thursday what we had to celebrate too ofcourse. Because of that I did not get the change to post a nice log this week. But in the spirit of Monday Inspiration I want to make it an Essie tradition to make a nice post every Monday, full of inspiration you can last a whole week on ;)

This week I discovered too that I really like Retro or Vintage, certainly not everything orange lamps I still find very ugly, but most things I like very much. And I understand that I'm not the only one who likes it too, but perhaps the only one who absolutely dislike orange lamps ;) 

A while ago I bought from Marktplaats (like a Dutch e-bay) a book collection which called Het Komplete Handwerken part 1, 2 and 3, (The Complete Handcraft Works) written in 1975 I think its the first edition because it did not speak of more editions, anyway in the books are almost all sorts of craft work with explanation how to do it and learning it step by step. But it has also some nice pictures in and step by step learning examples. And a few of those pictures I'm gonna show you. All the pictures I put in this post I made from those books, and I only use them to inspire me or learn about a certain hand craft.

Knitting a hat part 2

Ik moest gewoon de muts voor Lucas gisteren afmaken, hij is een beetje te groot maar hij kan hem goed dragen. Ik ben ook al aan de sjaal begonnen, maar ik moet nog even kijken hoe lang die eigenlijk moet gaan worden.   

I just had to finish off the hat for Lucas yesterday, and it turned out a little bit to big but he can wear it alright. I started with a scarf for him also, but I need to figure out how long the scarf would be.

Mijn man wilde ook de breinaalden proberen, hier is een foto van hem dat hij er mee breit. Hij zei tegen mij dat hij geen andere naalden meer wil gebruiken dan deze, maar hij breit nooit, dus kwam dat een beetje vreemd op mij over, hij het wel geleerd op school, maar wilde er nooit iets mee doen, tot nu toe, hij merkte dat ik het echt heel erg leuk en ontspannend vind en tegelijkertijd veel voldoening uit haal. Dus misschien kan ik in de toekomst ergens nog eens een paar projecten van hem laten zien.



My husband wanted to try the knitting needles also, here is a photo of him using it, and he said to me he did not want any other needles than those when he knits, what sounded a bit weird because he never knits, he learned it in school, but never wanted to do something with it, until now, he noticed that I really love it and find it relaxing and at the same time satisfying. So maybe in the future I can show some pictures of his projects also.

Knitting a hat

Een nieuwe brei project, ik kan de tel niet meer bijhouden. Ik brei vanaf september 2010 en heb ik al zo veel dingen gedaan, dat ik er echt even voor moet gaan zitten om ze te tellen, wat ik zal doen in over een paar dagen. Ik wil het wel bijhouden, gewoon voor mezelf.
En ik wilde nog even laten weten hoe de naalden breien die ik voor mijn verjaardag heb gekregen. Ze zijn erg goed en net zoals ik het me heb voorgesteld wat ik er van kon verwachten. Het hout is erg goed, de kleur is geweldig en ze breien lekker. De draad in het midden is zeer flexibel en niet stijf.
Dus ik ben een muts voor Lucas aan het breien op die naalden, en na 3 pogingen heb ik een soort van de afmeting goed. En het resultaat is niet al te slecht.







A new knitting project, I kind of lost track. I've been only knitting from September 2010 and I already got so many things done that I need to sit down and count them, what I will do in a few days. I like to keep track, just for my own record.
And I like to share with you how the needles I got for my birthday work out. They are very good indeed, just as I imagine they would be. The wood is great and the color is amazing and they knit smooth. The string in the middle is very flexible not stiff at all. So I'm knitting a hat for Lucas on those needles and after 3 tries I sort of got the measurements correct. And the result is not that bad either.

Handcraft Fair

Handwerk beurs.
Gisteren zijn mijn beste vriendin en ik naar de handwerk beurs geweest. Helaas zijn wij tijdens de beurs en de workshops vergeten foto's te maken, zo gingen we op in de hoeveelheid aan stands, leuke dingen en workshops en alles wat er te zien was. Maar ik heb thuis wel een paar foto's gemaakt waar je kan zien wat we zoal hebben gedaan.

Handcraft Fair.
Yesterday my best friend and I went to the handcraft fair. Unfortunately during the workshops and the fair we forgot to take pictures, we totally went up in the amount of stands, fun and workshops and everything that we saw. Back at home I took a few pictures where you can see what we've done.

 

Op de Hoooked stand, was een behulpzame vrouw die mij liet zien hoe je moet haken, Tunisch haken. Het garen die ze maken is gemaakt van stof die ze gebruiken in de kleding-industrie en het is een afvalproduct, ze recyclen het tricot (t-shirt stof) om garen van te maken, kijk maar op Hoooked.com voor meer info. Maar wat Geesje (de vrouw in de stand) deed zag er zo leuk uit om te doen, dat ik het garen en de naalden, een normale haaknaald en een Tunische haaknaald heb gekocht. Ik probeerde het zondag avond thuis uit en dit is het resultaat, het is het nog niet zo mooi, regelmatig en recht, maar de basis kan ik nu.

 

 At the Hoooked stand, there was a very helpful woman that showed me how to Tunisian Crochet. The yarn they make is made of fabric they use in the clothes industry it's a waste product so they recycle the fabric to make yarn of it, you can look at Hoooked.com But what Geesje (the woman in the stand) did looked so appealing to me that I bought the yarn and the needles, a normal crochet needle and a Tunisian crochet needle. I tried it at home Sunday evening and this is how it turned out, it is still not beautiful and straight, but the basic I know now. 

Ik heb ook een workshop wol verven gedaan met kleurstof uit Australië, het is een natuurlijke, niet giftige kleurstof, waar ik gek op ben. Ze hadden een aantal kleuren, maar moest je om je eigen kleuren maken met een paar basiskleuren. Ik heb gekozen voor een paar paarse en roze tinten. Dit is het resultaat, en voor een beginner (dit was de eerste keer dat ik dit deed) is het echt heel mooi geworden. Mijn zoontje Daniël mocht meehelpen om de wol thuis nog een paar keer te wassen en te drogen, waar bij de workshop geen tijd voor was. Nu moet ik het alleen nog spinnen op een spintol. Hopelijk krijg ik daar ook een goed resultaat mee.

I did a workshop wool dyeing with dye from Australia, it's nature, non toxic dye, which i love very much, they had some colors but you needed to make your own color range with a few basic colors, I made a color range in the purple and pink style. This is the result, and for a beginner (this was the first time I did this) it turned out to be lovely. My son Daniël helped me at home to wash the wool a few times and dry it, because at the workshop there was no time for it. Now I only need to spindle spinning it. Hope for a good result also.

En voor mijn verjaardag nog kreeg ik een workshop spintol spinnen van mijn beste vriendin Linda, en samen hebben we veel lol gehad om met gekaarde wol toch een paar garen te maken. We hebben met een zelfgemaakte spintol (gemaakt van 2 cd's een lampenfitting en een houten stokje) gesponnen en getwijnd. En we hebben nog wat wol mee naar huis gekregen om te oefenen. Bedankt Linda voor dit heerlijke cadeau, ik vond het geweldig om dit samen met jou te doen!

 

And for my birthday as a present I got a workshop spindle spinning from my best friend Linda, and together we had a lot of fun doing it. With carded wool we actually made yarn. We made with a homemade spindle spun (made from 2 cd's a lamp holder and a wooden) yarn and twisted the yarn. And we got some wool also to take home to practice. Thanks Linda for this wonderful gift, I loved to do this with you!
