her patterns with hip designs in felt.
Lisette calls herself a dreamer;
fond of everything involving fairy tales, myths
and everything else mysterious and different.
On her blog she writes about almost
everything handmade, cute and vintage.
Her life, love, handcraft and shop.
She makes awesome photographs of everything,
cute, handmade and adorable goodies.
She inspires me with her lovely pictures
and handmade accessories and
the energy she puts in her designs.
On her blog are free patterns and you find enough
to keep you crafting throughout the year!
Go check it out, and let me know what you think of it.

I hope you find it as inspiring as I do.

Painting owl

Good afternoon people.
Very nice to see you, and we have new followers,
a special warm welcome to you all!
A few weeks ago there was a give away contest on Birds World.
I send an e-mail mentioned what bird I loved the most,
I love birds in general but most of all  I love the owl,
because that also stands for the night part
in my nickname NightEssie.

Guess what, I won it!
It as a bit overwhelming, never thought I would win.
But I did, thank you so much Bertine,
for making me this lovely painting.

Today the package arrived,  and the painting is now hanging
above my working place.
Isn't it just the most lovely painting?

Monday Inspiration #13

This week I want to share another blog.
A blog from a very nice and kind person,
who inspires me with her adorable, colorful crochet works.
Karin has an amazing blog, with lots of tutorials,
lovely photo's and lots of interesting crochet works.
In the 70's she started crocheting
and after a while she quit with that.
Since early August 2009 she has started crocheting again.
She made / started with white crocheted curtains and rugs.
Now she is in love with color, lots of color.
And with all these beautiful, brightly colored wool and cotton she tries all sorts of stitches and patterns, and shares that with us.
She has made some awesome blankets and accessories.
And on top of that she has a page with free patters on her blog.
Karin gave new life into a great joyful hobby,
bursting with possibilities, and to see that makes me
want to crochet even more myself.
I hope you find it as inspiring as I do.
Have a good day!

DWZI / TWIS #11

This week I saw...

Here we have White Sunday and the Monday after,
we have a free day.
This Monday we went to see a market place,
drink some nice coffee with my parents and we
took the kids to an indoor playground.
They loved it!
And ofcourse I forgot to took pictures of everything,
glad my husband thought about it and took some of our kids ;)

My kids having fun in a indoor playground.

And this week I stared to spin on a spindle.
See this post
And It went very well.
So my husband decided that I needed a spinning wheel,
haha not really, he thought it was a good idea,
because it goes quicker. And it was a good idea.
I love it, it is addictive and now I have a new hobby.
It's a good thing it all goes well together.
Now I can spin my own yarn and make something nice from it :)
The spinning wheel it self has a nice story.
I bought it on a on-line marketplace
from a old couple not far away from me.
She spun her yarn to make clothes for her 7! children,
while her husband was a sheep shearer in the spring,
to make a bit a extra money to feed all those mouths.
She begun to spin on a spindle and knit the yarn,
it was a lot of work, so her husband
had made her this spinning wheel.
A friend of the family made it who worked in a factory with wood.
I asked her if she would mind letting it go,
she said no, she had make good use of it,
and it was time to get it out of the house.
But she was happy to see
that I wanted to make really use of it,
and not just put it in  a room as decoration.
I told her I take care of it,
and she gave me tips to maintain the spinning wheel.
We both were happy :)

My spinning wheel.

Spindle spinning

I got my first meters on the spindle spun, and that went pretty well.
It is a bit on the thick side, but I got the hang of it now.

There are thinner and thicker parts in the yarn, but it does have a nice flow.
I'm now knitting a hat on needle 5,5 mm.
It's a bit over 90 meters and after twisting it is 41,5 meters of yarn,
it's natural wool yarn, I think of a Scottish sheep.
I even bought an old spinning wheel today, tomorrow I can pick it up.

I'm very existed how it feels to spin on a spinning wheel.
It seems so
satisfactory with my own spun yarn to make something beautiful.
Then you cover the whole progress, except shaving the sheep ;)

My new Spindle.

The carded wool.
Spun yarn, need to be twisted.
Voilà the hand spun yarn.
